The CCMC’s purpose is to ensure banks comply with their obligations under the Code of Banking Practice – ultimately to create a better banking experience for customers. We do this in three main ways:
We monitor compliance
We monitor banks’ compliance with the Code of Banking Practice through our Annual Compliance Statement – our key monitoring tool – as well as self-initiated inquiries. Find out more about our monitoring program.
We investigate allegations of breaches of the Code
We investigate allegations that a bank has breached its obligations under the Code, and hold banks to account for any misconduct. We also work with banks to address the cause or causes of the breach. Find out more about our investigations.
We engage with our stakeholders
We work with a range of stakeholders around Australia to share our experience of Code compliance and influence positive changes in industry behaviour. Find out more about our stakeholder engagement program.
